IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT 🅿️- The University will be breaking ground for two new dormitories on Flagg Rd in the New Year. Construction will impact our current parking in Lot #21. Beginning Jan 5, 2026, OLLI members will continue to enjoy FREE parking in the Plains Rd Lot (#25), and the Fine Arts Lot (staff side lot #6) on Bills Lane (off Upper College Rd.). Shuttles are available running every 15 minutes. Handicap parking will be available close to our building. Plan ahead, bundle up, and come back to your college years. Take a healthy walk or jump on the shuttle. Come early, stay late, and enjoy a cup of coffee with your OLLI friends.

OLLI NEW MEMBER WELCOME- Are you new to OLLI or returning after being gone a while? Both current and new members are invited to attend and learn about all OLLI has to offer. We’ll review our current programs, and our special interest groups, all while exploring and becoming more familiar with our OLLI website and registration software. Plenty of time for Q & A. TAKING THE INWARD JOURNEY- This seminar will introduce participants to the benefits of relaxation, movement, and stretching. Each session will focus on a different technique designed to enhance wellness through a gentle mind-body approach. This interactive program will feature: Six Movements for a Happy Spine; Breath Techniques; Intro to Yoga; Ayurveda; the Chakra Energy System; and Meditation. OSHER ONLINE CLASSES – If you have enrolled in an Osher Online class you should have received an invite to the Osher Online Orientation on Wed, Jan 7, 2-3PM.  If you are not able to attend, there will be a recording available. If you are new to Osher Online, it is important for you to attend the session or watch the recording as they will be walking you through how to access your courses and materials using the Osher Online website. RHODY OUTPOST– URI’s principal basic needs pantry for students experiencing food insecurity.  The Outpost provides fresh and non-perishable food and personal care items at no charge to students. Click Here to view the updated list of all urgently needed items. You can also purchase items directly from Amazon on the Rhody Outpost Wish List.  

Most needed items for the New Year: chicken breast, sardines, tuna, chickpeas,Kashi or Kind bars, whole oats, cereal, ramen, single-serve chips/crackers/nuts/dried fruit/cookies,jelly, microwave popcorn, toothpaste, toothbrushes, dish soap, tissues, paper towels, toilet paper, laundry pods.

THE URI BIOMECHANICS AND WEARABLES LABORATORY is conducting a validation study on wrist biomechanics with wearable devices. They are looking for interested healthy subjects between the ages of 18-70 to participate in a two-part data capture. The in-lab portion will take approximately two hours to complete. After the in-lab portion of the study, they will send participants home with four wearable sensors which will be returned after six to eight hours. They are looking for volunteers who do not have wrist or hand problems to evaluate their wrist function during typical activities completed during a normal day. OLLI AT THE UNIVERSITY OF DELAWARE’S FREE ONLINE MINI-SEMESTER- We’re excited to extend a warm invitation to our fellow OLLI programs and your members! Join us for January Explorations, OLLI at the University of Delaware’s FREE online mini-semester, taking place January 13–23. Enjoy a fun sampler of short Zoom classes featuring topics like the History of American Whiskey, Frontiers for Healthy Aging, an Agatha Christie Literary Anniversary, and many more—all designed to spark curiosity and connection. IF YOU ARE ATTENDING CLASSES AT OLLI, YOU MUST HAVE A PARKING PASS! If you are not sure, please call the office at 401-874-4197. Parking is FREE with membership but you must register your vehicle now if you are taking classes in 2025 -2026. If you get a ticket you will be responsible for appealing it with the URI parking administration. If you would like us to renew your parking pass we need the following information as soon as possible: License Plate #, State, Car Make, Model & Color and if your car is gas, electric or hybrid.
