The field of Health Outcomes identifies and measures the relationship between medical treatments and outcomes achieved in real-world environments. Medication outcomes – a subspecialty of the Health Outcomes field – combines multiple disciplines, including epidemiology, health economics, statistics, humanistic outcomes assessment, and health policy.
Upon completion of the Medication Outcomes Graduate Certificate Program, you will be able to:
- structure and conduct a medications outcomes evaluation;
- Interpret and apply your findings within the context of other published evidence to develop rational policies for medication use; and
- assist health plans, hospitals, accountable care organizations, state agencies, and other health-system stakeholders to reduce pharmacy costs and promote the safe and effective medication use through data-driven approaches.

PHP589: Essential Methods of Pharmacoeconomics
PHP649: Applications of Medication Outcomes Evaluation

Admission Criteria
- GPA of 3.0 or higher is required for regular admission
- Applicants with lower then a 3.0 may be considered for provisional admission — please contact online@uri.edu before applying to discuss the GPA requirement.
