Sea Services Symposium

The inaugural URI Sea Services Symposium will foster and promote the linkage between the Sea Services (U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) and the University of Rhode Island as a top maritime center of excellence and education.

The symposium will serve to expand URI students, and also, Rhode Island Community College and high school students’ familiarity with sea service missions, career paths, and benefits. The symposium will also showcase opportunities available through URI maritime-related degree programs.

Symposium Hosts: The URI Dept. of Marine Affairs, and the Military and Veteran Education Center.

Place: URI Kingston Campus: Edwards Hall and the Quadrangle


Activities and Events

  • 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. — Service recruiting and information booths, service displays and demonstrations, and student and active-duty sea service personnel interaction on the Quad and in Edwards Hall lobby.
  • 10:30 – 11:50 a.m. — Keynote and URI, sea service, and Blue Economy industry partners in Edwards Hall
  • 12:00 p.m. — Grand prize free raffle drawing and announcement
