My primary research focus concerns the sources and sinks of nitrogen in coastal watersheds. I conduct process level and in situ studies on nitrate dynamics and use GIS techniques to scale up from the site level to the watershed scale. In conjunction with several graduate students I am also engaged in research on environmental flows. My teaching is targeted to undergraduate and graduate courses in watershed hydrology. We have a robust set extension activities directed towards demonstration/educational programs for local and state decision makers to facilitate watershed management and minimize the risks of non-point source pollution.
