For the past ten years the Ocean State Writing Conference has brought accomplished and award-winning writers to the campus of the University of Rhode Island. We offer quality workshops, readings, master classes and panels. We’ve been honored to host a wide array of authors, including playwright Ayad Akhtar, graphic novelist Alison Bechdel, poet Richard Blanco and novelist Jennifer Egan.

We believe that there is inspiration in conversation, in the shared experience of a workshop, a panel discussion or one-on-one consultation with a writer. We strive to cultivate an atmosphere of inquiry, encouragement, and warmth. At the conference, you will meet writers of all levels and have the opportunity to come together to engage in the one passion we all share: creative writing.
