Complete the URI Daily COVID Self-Assessment Participants must show the confirmation screen from the Daily COVID Self-Assessment in the Rhody Connect app., or website.
Reserve your Time
All participants must reserve their time block in advance using IMLeagues.com/uri. The capacity of each area will be limited based on physical distancing guidelines and the availability of equipment/space. IMLeagues.com/uri
Scan Current, Valid URI ID Card
Participants must self-scan with their valid photo URI ID card at the facility entrance to verify access eligibility.
Wear a Face Mask
Participants must wear a face mask at all times while in our facility, continue wearing their face mask in all indoor spaces including during a workout, and wear a mask outdoors, including group exercise classes. Swimmers must have a face mask to enter the facility but may remove it for swimming only.
Bring Water
Participants should bring a water bottle for proper hydration during their workout. Bottle filling stations are not available in any recreational facility.
FAQs
Is the indoor track open? Yes, the indoor track is open for walkers and joggers, (when the facilities are open) you must adhere to physical distancing, no groups larger than 15 will be permitted at this time. Facility reservations are required.
Are the basketball courts open? No, Mackal Fieldhouse and Tootell West Gymnasium courts are not available at this time.
Can I rent equipment, basketballs, volleyball, etc? No, equipment rental/lending is not available until further notice.
Are the pools open? (When the facilities are open) Yes – lap swimming and open recreation swimming will be open. Face masks are required to be worn until you are ready to enter the water and they must be put back on as soon as you exit the water. You are required to physical distance while swimming and playing in the pool. Reducing lap swim to two swimmers per lane.
At this time, there is no evidence that COVID-19 can be spread through the use of pools and spas, and we will continue to follow stringent sanitation protocols for proper disinfection, operation, and maintenance of pools and the spa per CDC guidelines. Reservations are required through IMLeagues.com/uri.
Are the locker rooms open? Yes (and no), our locker rooms in the Tootell Aquatic Center are open for limited use. Showers are only available for use to rinse off prior to using the pool. Only enter a shower indicated as ‘ready for use’ by a green sign (refer to Policies & Procedures). Anna Fascitelli and Mackal Fieldhouse locker rooms are closed until further notice
Are lockers available? No, lockers are not available for use. Cubbies are provided at each facility for use while you are in the facility. Cubbies are provided on a first come first serve basis, as items cannot be stored on the floor while working out. Campus Recreation is not responsible for any lost, damaged, or stolen items brought into the facility.
Are restrooms available? Yes, each facility has restrooms available for use, with limited capacity to meet the physical distancing regulations. We’ve implemented heightened cleaning measures to increase the safety of our environment.
Are towels available? No, towel service has been discontinued until further notice. Participants who wish to utilize a sweat towel during their workout must bring their own clean towel (and take it with you).
Can I spot someone lifting weights? No. Spotting for weightlifters is not permitted. Weightlifters must choose a weight that they are comfortable lifting without assistance.
Can I bring a non-student or guest? Not at this time. No guests/visitors are permitted.
Do I need to physical distance while working out? Yes, all participants are required to stay a minimum of 6ft apart in all recreation facilities and while participating in programs. To assist with this, Campus Rec has placed markers throughout the facility and organized equipment to meet physical distancing standards.
When do I wipe down the equipment I use? Participants must wipe/disinfect each piece of equipment before and after use. Disinfecting wipes are provided in recreation areas so individuals can do their part to prevent surface transmission of pathogens.
Do I have to wear a mask while doing cardio exercises such as running or using cardio equipment? Yes, masks are required at all times while inside our facilities. How far in advance can I make a reservation to workout? Reservations open 24 hours in advance and are available on a first-come-first-serve basis. All reservations are through IMLeagues.com/uri. Reservations are required to access all Campus Recreation facilities. Walk-ins are not permitted.
How long is each facility reservation? Reservation times will vary from one hour to 90 minutes. Facilities will close for a minimum of 30 minutes between blocks. We may close for longer times during “deep cleans”. You are able to enter the building 5 minutes prior to your reservation, to start the check-in process. Members are permitted to arrive up to 15 minutes after their time block has started. You must leave the facility at the end of your reservation, there will be no exceptions.
Do I need to cancel a reservation if I can’t make it? Yes, participants who sign-up for a time block, but are unable to attend should remove themselves from the time block on IMLeagues at least 30 minutes prior to the start time.
Sign Up Show Up policy: If you are unable to attend, you must “un-join” the class you have registered for at least 60 minutes prior to class start time. Waitlisted members will be automatically added until this time. Members missing 2 or more sessions will receive a one-week class registration suspension.
Are there still group exercise classes available? Yes, we are providing in-person outdoor classes, virtual classes, and in-person indoor classes with reduced capacity. Sign up and class details are through IMLeagues.com/uri, you may reserve your space beginning at noon the day prior. Walk-ins are not permitted. We encourage participants to bring their own yoga mat if possible.
Can I join a Club Sports team? Yes, you can! Due to COVID-19 coronavirus restrictions, URI Club Sports will not be competing this fall. However, many individual teams are actively recruiting, virtually! Each team is different, so please check our Club Sports pages for additional information. #rhodytogether – Bringing our community together doing the COVID-19 pandemic in a healthy and respectful way.
Can I play Intramural Sports? Yes, you can! Intramural Sports has numerous options to play in person, virtual, and e-sports. Register through IMLeagues.com/uri
Where do I complete the URI Daily COVID Self-Assessment? The Daily Self-Assessment is in the Rhody Connect app. Complete the Daily Self-Assessment each day, you’ll need to show your green check screen to our staff at the entrance. And, you’ll likely need it in other campus spaces. Once you complete the questions in the app, the confirmation screen will be emailed with your email address and the date at the top of the screen. If you answer yes to any of the questions, YOU MUST STAY HOME/IN YOUR ROOM and notify URI Health Services via phone at 401-874-2246 immediately.
How is Campus Recreation keeping the facility and equipment clean? Campus Recreation has significantly increased the cleaning of all our facilities and equipment. Our custodial staff is cleaning all areas more frequently and our student staff has increased the amount of cleaning of all equipment. All participants are required to wipe down any equipment they use before and after each use. Time has been scheduled between facility reservations for additional cleaning.
How can I best protect myself during my workout? Please take responsibility for your own safety and the safety of others. Stay home if you are not feeling well. Clean equipment, use masks, practice physical distancing, limit your time in the facility, and adapt your workout. (and wash your hands!)
