Directions to Mackal Field House, Keaney Gymnasium, and Tootell Aquatics Center:
From Newport
- Take Route -138 West towards Jamestown and New York
- Merge onto Route 1 South
- Then Take a right onto Route -138 W
- Follow 138 for approximately 4.5 miles
- The recreation entrance will be on your right.
From the North
- Take I-95 South
- Take Exit #9 a Left exit to route 4 South towards Newport/South County
- Merge onto RI-4 South
- Take Exit #5B Route 102 towards Exeter
- Take a Left at the second traffic light onto South County Trail – Route 2
- Follow route 2 for approximately 7 miles
- Take a left at the traffic light onto route-138W/Kingstown Rd.
- The entrance to the Athletic Complex will be on your left (approximately 2 miles)
From the South
- Take 95 North
- Get off at exit #3A Route 138 East towards Kingston and Newport
- Follow Route RI-138West/Kingstown Rd. for approximately 8 miles
- The entrance to the Athletic Complex will be on your left
Parking
The University Transportation and Parking (TAP) is instituting metered parking for Lot #27 beginning September 7th. Lot #27 will remain available for Visitor Parking, requiring a valid virtual parking permit Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm or hourly AMP metered parking.
If visiting Mon.-Fri. 8am-4pm, without a valid virtual parking permit:
- Download the AMP app before arriving on campus and create an account
- Once you have arrived in Lot #27 on campus, you will pay for metered parking based on the duration of the visit.
- Campus Recreation members will receive a parking permit for the length of their membership. A unique parking code will be provided on your receipt when purchasing online or in-person.
Day Visitors and Pool Day Pass Users
Lot 27, or the Boss parking lot is the only approved lot for campus recreation. Register your vehicle in advance on the URI Transportation and Parking website. If you haven’t registered your vehicle prior, you can request assist with registering at the Mackal Field House Customer Service Center upon entering. You can also download a parking map on the Transportation and Parking website.
