Izak Hill, Ph.D.

A student of Rainer Lohmann, Izak received $1,280 towards expenses for processing stable isotope samples from the Delaware River to better understand trophic dynamics of PFAS bioaccumulation and biomagnification by assessing diet resources with the use of stable isotopes.

Sarah Lang, Ph.D.

A student of Melissa Omand, Sarah received $1,000 towards travel expenses for the 2026 Ocean Sciences Meeting in Scotland in Feb. to present on “Estimating submesoscale-driven particulate organic carbon flux from remote sensing at a dynamic upwelling front.”

Taylor Leitch, M.O.

A student of Erin Peck, Taylor received $1,000 towards registration and travel to the spring 2026 New England Estuarine Research Society meeting in upstate New York to present on “Marsh migration in two northern New England estuaries and coastal access in Rhode Island.”

Frankie Lopez, Ph.D.

A student of Susanne Menden-Deuer, Frankie received $1,000 towards travel expenses for the 2026 Ocean Sciences Meeting in February in Scotland to present on “Assessing phytoplankton growth across size classes under alkalinity enhancement in the Gulf of Maine.”

Izzy Rico, Ph.D.

A student of Erin Peck, Izzy received $1,000 towards travel expenses for New Zealand (NZ) to work with The Nature Conservancy (in Wellington, NZ) and the NZ Ministry for the Environment to obtain salt marsh measurements and cores in New Zealand for studies on Aotearoa salt marsh blue carbon.

Jacqueline Rosa, M.S.

A student of Hongjie Wang, Jacqueline received $420 for registration to present a poster on “Impact of gear type and water quality on eastern oyster growth in RI estuaries” at the 2026 National Shellfisheries Conference in Portland, Oregon on March 22-26, 2026.

Alexander Rubin, M.S.

A student of Kelton McMahon, Alexander received $800 to attend the GSO Small Boats Operation Training Course. This will be particularly useful for his present work with the fish trawl survey and his future career goal to be a fisheries biologist.
