Explore Chemical Oceanography for Summer 2026!

Chemical oceanography is the study of compounds in the ocean and the reactions they undergo, which are important to ocean health. Campers will learn about the carbonate system through hands-on sampling and perform experiments to show the impact of warming temperatures and acidification on marine life. From field programs and research sites around Narragansett Bay, to classroom time at URI’s Graduate School of Oceanography, campers will get to know the local and global properties that regulate ocean change.
Although this camp will emphasize chemical oceanography, campers will also investigate the interdisciplinary aspects of oceanography, including biological, geological and physical components.
Oceanography Explorers Camp will run from 9am to 3pm, with pick up and drop off occurring at the URI Graduate School of Oceanography (Narragansett, RI).

Cost: $550 (payment options are included in registration confirmation)
A 15% registration discount is available for campers of current URI faculty/staff/students. A 20% sibling discount is available.
A limited number of scholarships are also available, please see the registration form for more information.
Cancellation policy: Any cancellations made less than 14 days prior to the start of camp, or in the case of a no-show, NO REFUND. Any cancellations made within 45-15 days prior to the start of camp will result in a refund of 50%. Any cancellations made more than 45 days prior to the start of camp will result in 100% refund. The GSO reserves the right to cancel the camp due to unforeseen circumstances up to two weeks prior. In the case of cancellation made by URI GSO, 100% refunds will be given.
