The English Department publishes a yearly print journal, Ocean State Review, which is in its sixth year and includes the work of nationally and internationally recognized writers. English doctoral students have undertaken many of the editorial and production duties of this journal. Some doctoral students have also worked for Barrow Street Inc., the non-profit publisher of the prize-winning literature journal Barrow Street and Barrow Street Books. Exciting possibilities for editing and publishing include a Writing and Publishing course from Professor Peter Covino, founder and supervisor of the Ocean State Review and a founding editor of Barrow Street Inc. The Publishing & Editing subcommittee will also reach out to regional university presses to explore strategies and potential partnerships.
