Women in Leadership Series: Tolani Olagundoye

Tolani Olagundoye, Pharm.D.’17 will discuss how she prepares young people to be leaders in the global environmental and health care crisis. As a URI Cooperative Extension faculty member and director of the Rhode Island 4-H youth development program, she guides her students to become our next generation of authentic, effective, and resilient leaders.

This group of volunteers distribute course catalogs, recommend places for speaking engagements promoting OLLI, represent OLLI at special events, assist with press releases, and connect with local businesses and organizations promoting OLLI as a wonderful opportunity for retirees and those relocating to our state.  RHODY OUTPOST- RESTOCKTOBER

It is RESTOCKTOBER month at Rhody Outpost and OLLI members are encouraged to donate the following items during the month of October.

  • PAPER AND PERSONAL PRODUCTS (toilet paper, tissues, paper towels, soap, toothbrushes and toothpaste, hand lotion, ChapStick, etc.)
  • GIFT CARDS are always welcome to local grocery stores, Job Lot, and Walmart.

Drop off your items to the OLLI office. More information in ways OLLI can help will be shared coming soon!

OLLI Veterans- Veterans Day Recognition – In honor of upcoming Veterans Day, OLLI would like to recognize our OLLI members and/ or family members who have served, or are currently serving. Please let us know by sharing your name, service information, and picture if possible.  Deadline for submission is November 1st. 

BREAKFAST FOR OLLI VETERANS Please join Beth Leconte, OLLI Director, at the Rotary Club of Wakefield Veterans breakfast on Thursday, November 10, from 7:15am-8:30am. There will be no charge to you. Enjoy fellowship and a presentation by Joe “Tiger” Patrick, VFW State Commander.

The breakfast will be held at Camden’s Restaurant, 756 Kingstown Rd, (adjacent to Bowling Alley) Wakefield. Wear your service uniform if able.

Gait Way to Better Balance- This is a free balance screening program where individuals participate in a series of low impact physical tests (ex: sit to stand up from a chair) that are part of the CDC’s STEADI program and receive recommendations from a licensed rehabilitation therapist on how to improve their balance and reduce falls, then will be referred to programs in the area to assist with exercise or balance needs. The entire screening takes approximately 30 minutes. Attendees that use an assisted device are welcome to participate. Check out the flyer by clicking here.
