Laura Cahill
Laura Cahill has written screenplays for 20th Century Fox, CBS, Lifetime, Miramax, Universal and others. Her screenplay for HBO’s Hysterical Blindness (starring Uma Thurman, Juliette Lewis and Gena Rowlands), adapted from her critically acclaimed off-Broadway play, debuted at The Sundance Film Festival in 2002, and went on to receive nominations for Emmy, Independent Spirit and Writers’ Guild Awards. Her television credits include pilot scripts for HBO, IFC, Touchstone, Warner Brothers, Paramount, WB Network and UPN, and an episode of the one hour drama The Beat. Her play Sondra is slated to be produced this spring by Apothecary Theater Company. Her play Sad and Serious News was recently included in the Vineyard Theatre’s New Play Reading Series, directed by Mark Brokaw. Laura’s other plays include Mercy, Jersey Girls Go to the Park, Home and The Way, and have been produced or workshopped at such noted theaters as the Vineyard Theatre, Naked Angels, Ensemble Studio Theatre, and New Harmony Project, among others. Her plays and monologues have been published by Dramatists Play Service, Smith & Kraus, and Applause Books.
