Fitness & Wellness provides a diverse schedule/array of programs, collaborative educational, initiatives, and professional student development. Our quality programs and facilities serve as a vehicle on the path of optimal wellness for the campus community and surrounding areas.
The Fitness & Wellness program strives to promote a balanced lifestyle for the University community. The fitness areas, wellness resource center, personal training, and group exercise class offerings provide a positive outlet to support optimal well-being. Nationally certified professionals lead our programs to encourage participants in achieving sustainable dietary, fitness, and wellness goals. The programs holistic approach targets seven dimensions of wellness, physical, social, intellectual, spiritual, emotional, environmental, and occupational.

The Department of Campus Recreation has two diverse facilities to meet the needs of the URI campus community.
The Fascitelli Fitness & Wellness Center, located in the heart of campus, is designed for a health club atmosphere. The Mackal-Tootell Complex features the Mackal Fitness Center and Weight Room along with basketball courts, indoor track, group exercise studio, volleyball/badminton courts in Tootell and swimming pool complex to meet all your recreational needs.
This diverse and high energy program offers a variety of class options from our nationally certified instructors. Class offering includes; cardio kickboxing, strength training, interval training, abs and others. Other favorites include classes like Ram Spin, Les Mills BodyPump™, Zumba, and Bootcamp. Mind/Body, TRX®, Specialty classes are also available in a variety of intensity and are geared towards all ages and fitness levels.
This motivational program is perfect for the novice or experienced exerciser. Certified trainers will identify goals, perform assessments and more to help guide you on a path toward a healthier, fitter you!
Events and workshops will be available through Campus Recreation.
