What to expect at your first visit
Prior to scheduling an appointment with us, you will have a brief pre-screening meeting (in person or on the phone) with a counselor to discuss your needs.
Pre-Screenings are offered:

10:00 AM– 3:00 PM
- You’ll be asked to complete some forms and sign our welcome letter electronically which will take approximately 15 minutes.
- You will then speak briefly (15-20 minutes) via phone or in person with a counselor to talk about your reasons for coming in and to explore the options available to you.
- Care options could include an appointment for short-term individual or group therapy at the Counseling Center, or to our care management services for help connecting you to long-term therapy the community, medication management, substance use treatment, and more. We may also provide referrals to other supportive departments on campus for things such as academic support, medication, accommodations, and more

If you are in need of space to attend a teletherapy appointment:
- The Counseling Center has a limited number of private rooms that can be reserved for you to attend tele/video therapy appointments. Call us at 401-874-2288 to inquire about availability.
