COASTL Research

We get muddy.

The COAST Lab uses a variety of techniques to understand changes along the shoreline and the seabed of the continental margin.

Sample collection of sediments usually involves coring using a range of methods depending on the water depth and stratigraphic interest.  Geophysical tools, remotely sensed data and geographic information systems (GIS) are employed to map and measure coastal attributes and changes.  Labwork is often required to determine sediment accummulation or other properties of the environment.  Field measurements including deployments of instruments are commonly made to evaluate the driving process, e.g., river input, waves, and currents.  Look for more information soon.
