Native Plant Gardening
March 4, 6 to 7 p.m. — North Kingstown Free Library
Learn why native plants are essential, what is happening to native habitats, and how we can help preserve and restore them from centuries of human impact. This free workshop is offered through the URI Master Gardener Program. All are welcome. No registration required.

2025 Alexander M. Cruickshank Lecture
March 4, 6 to 8 p.m. — Kingston Campus, Beaupre Center for Chemical and Forensic Sciences
This year’s Cruickshank Lecture (open to the public) will be delivered by Prof. Sean Carroll. Theoretical physicist, philosopher, and science advocate, Carroll’s research focuses on some of the most foundational questions involving quantum mechanics, spacetime, cosmology and complexity. He is the Homewood Professor of Natural Philosophy at Johns Hopkins University, Fractal Faculty at the Santa Fe Institute, and the host of the polymath podcast “Mindscape.”

HerStory Open Mic
March 6, 7 to 9 p.m. — Kingston Campus, Multicultural Student Services Center, Hardge Forum
This event, curated by OUTSPOKEN by Simply Sara, invites women from all walks of life to share in a night of empowerment, storytelling, and connection. Featured poet Ariel Tavares will grace the stage, setting the tone for the evening. The highlight of the night will be the roll call for the open mic, where we hope to hear powerful stories from the URI community.

Stand Up for Science
March 7, Noon to 4 p.m. — Rhode Island State House, 82 Smith Street Providence, RI 02903
Stand Up for Science is a grassroots operation led by a core group of five early-career scientists that has grown to a network of more than 100 volunteers working toward a shared goal: to protect the American science enterprise. Join fellow URI-GSO community members to rally at the R.I. State House and deliver the message that science is for everyone!

Q.P.R. Suicide Prevention Training
March 12, Noon to 1 p.m. — Kingston Campus, Ranger Hall 310
Q.P.R. stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer — the 3 simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. In this one hour training you can learn how to recognize the warning signs of suicide and how to Question, Persuade, and Refer someone to get help. Free and open to the entire URI Community, students, faculty and staff.
