Abby Baskind

Biography

I’m Abby Baskind (they/she), a PhD student at URI Graduate School of Oceanography (GSO) in the Wang Lab. I graduated from Princeton University in 2022 with a degree in Geosciences. During my time there, I conducted my thesis research with Graeme MacGilchrist, a postdoctoral fellow in Jorge Sarmiento’s lab, and Daniel Sigman, a faculty in the Department of Geosciences. We did a CMIP6 model intercomparison of the carbonate chemistry in source waters for carbon outgassing in the Southern Ocean. I presented the project at Ocean Science Meeting 2022. My current research at GSO involves adding the marine carbon cycle to an existing model of Narragansett Bay, managed by David Ullman. Outside of my academic studies and research, I enjoy road cycling and bike mechanics.
