Biography
Teresa (she/her) is a postdoctoral researcher studying how clams respond to ocean alkalinity enhancement, as part of a project led by Drs. Jaime Palter and Hongjie Wang (GSO) and Dr. Jason Grear (EPA). Teresa first became interested in effects of environmental change on marine life while working on her B.S. in marine biology at URI. From 2016 to 2023 she completed her Ph.D. at Stony Brook University with Janet Nye, studying how seawater acidification and hypoxia impact the early life stages of Atlantic silversides. She then spent a year with the Mid-Atlantic Coastal Acidification Network identifying and mapping ocean acidification hotspots using publicly available monitoring data and species response studies. After years of learning about the threats posed by high carbon dioxide, she is excited to be working on a potential strategy to mitigate it!
