  • Chemical measurements in samples from monitoring wells and surface waters
  • Numeric modeling to assess the impacts of SGD on nutrient budgets and water quality
  • Concurrent preliminary information on potential saltwater intrusion.
  • Transfer our findings to local communities and regional managers.

Observations

    • Boat Based Surveys

      • Electrical Resistivity
    • Ground Penetrating Radar
    • Receiving water-based surveys will inform locations for land-based surveys of electrical resistivity and ground penetrating radar

    • Monitoring wells
    • Temporary wells beneath shallow water
    • Sampling of discrete water samples from surveys and wells for measurement of temperature, salinity, nutrients, radon, & chloride

 

Modeling

Groundwater models incorporate information about flow through the subsurface, including but not limited to:

  • geologic formations
  • porosity & permeability
  • hydraulic gradient
  • recharge rate
  • contaminant distributions/reactions

to create a simulation of the movement of water and dissolved and suspended constituents.
