Frequently Asked Questions

ADMISSION

  • How can students be notified of their admission decision?
Students will receive an email notifying them of an update to their application status. When they log into their applicant portal, they will be able to view their decision.
  • What is the deadline to commit to URI?
Due to lengthy federal FAFSA system outages and delays, to assist first-year admitted students (Fall 2024 entry) in their decision process, URI will be extending its deposit deadline to May 15, 2024. These deposits are fully refundable through May 15, but non-refundable after May 15. Admitted students will receive important updates about enrollment through our Rhode to Becoming a Ram (R2R) emails and website.
  • What are the next steps after submitting an enrollment deposit?
New students can view next steps in the New Student Checklist.

ENROLLMENT, FINANCIAL AID, TUITION, AND BILLING

  • When will students receive their financial aid award?
Please note that although the 2024-25 Federal Application For Student Aid (FAFSA) became available on 12/31/2023, there are lengthy federal system outages and delays. We encourage students to file the FAFSA as soon as they are able, but we understand that some students are unable to do so because of a variety of factors.

For students who have filed the FAFSA, Financial aid award letters will be delivered to the student’s applicant portal. As of mid-March 2024, URI has started to receive FAFSA data from the U.S. Department of Education and we are working hard to prepare financial aid awards. Please visit the Financial Aid website for more information
