The “Student-Alum Networking Series” is an opportunity for our students and recent graduates to hear from our alums about the work they are doing and what their career path has been. Our fifth alum speaker on June 28 , 2021 was Yackar Mauzole who received both her M.S. (2014) and Ph.D. (2017) from URI’s Graduate School of Oceanography. Mauzole is now a postdoctoral researcher at Scripps Institution of Oceanography.
The title of Yackar’s talk is “A Journey to Become an Oceanographer: the Good, the Bad and the Ugly.” The talk presents her path throughout higher education to becoming an oceanographer and touches on some of the hardships she faced as a student and now as an early career researcher. Mauzole shares some insights on her personal journey, as well as some of the research she has been involved in over the years.
