On October 20th, 2023 URI Distinguished Achievement Award winner and GSO alum Lynne Zeitlin Hale, M.S. ’76, spoke about coastal and ocean conservation in a special lecture on the Bay Campus.

The threats to coasts and the ocean often seem overwhelming, and on a global scale the trajectory of ocean health is downward. Lost in this narrative are the stories of the ever growing number of committed individuals and groups who are making a positive difference, place by place. This seminar shared some of the stories of The Nature Conservancy’s global marine family’s efforts over two decades to bend the ocean’s downward trend, and thereby benefit both people and nature.
