Research
I am a professor of Oceanography, with a broad range of research and teaching experience generally related to environmental, geological, cosmo-chemistry and astrobiology . Presently my work is principally focused on understanding the controls and climactic feedbacks on atmospheric carbon dioxide levels, past ocean circulation, as well as the nature and activity of microbial life in the seafloor. This work involves oceanographic research cruises, laboratory analysis, chemical/isotopic methods development, data interpretation including mathematical modeling.
Education
