The 50th anniversary celebration of the Graduate School of Oceanography has resulted in a wide range of news stories in the local media. The Providence Journal, Providence Business News, Narragansett Times, South County Independent, and EcoRI have all done excellent feature stories about the history and significance of the institution. Stories in the Jamestown Press and Senior Times have featured Ted Smayda, the oldest still-active professor on campus, and Get-RI featured recent GSO graduate Leslie Smith. In addition, Channel 10 offered a Coffee Cup Salute to GSO; the Rhode Show had two GSO guests on for a live interview; the South County Independent, Narragansett Patch and Charlestown Press highlighted the anniversary events; WPRO radio interviewed Sara Hickox about the events, and Channel 12 reported on the Science Saturday Open House.
