Ocean Classroom (Spots): Plankton Time Series

Every week since 1957, researchers at GSO have collected water samples from Narragansett Bay to study phytoplankton, zooplankton, and environmental conditions. As one of the world’s longest-running plankton surveys, this research helps track changes in marine ecosystems, nutrient cycling, and the impacts of climate change.

Watch our new Ocean Classroom (Spots) to see how decades of data are shaping our understanding of the plankton communities and the physical conditions of Narragansett Bay!
