GSO organizes and hosts a variety of educational training programs for audiences of all types.

The Consortium for Ocean Science Exploration and Engagement (COSEE) is an international nonprofit network of ocean scientists and educators working together to transform ocean sciences education. COSEE provides educational programs, materials, and tools that link cutting-edge ocean science research with outreach and education initiatives to increase ocean literacy among diverse audiences and develop the highly trained workforce needed to meet today’s challenges.

Discovery of Sound in the Sea (DOSITS) is an educational website focused on the science of underwater sound. DOSITS has been the to go resource for topics related to underwater sound since 2001. In addition to the website, DOSITS has produced digital books, webinar series, videos, and printed booklets, including training materials for a variety of audiences from those working with and regulating underwater acoustics to learners from middle school through undergraduate levels and the public.

The Coastal Resources Center teaches intensive summer Coastal Management Institute for international managers and policy makers every year or every other year. Addressing fisheries management issues and topics related to population health in the environment, the instruction aims to develop leadership ability and insight in the participants. Participants from countries including Indonesia, Malaysia, Tanzania, Senegal, Gambia, Ghana, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Timor, Honduras, Ecuador, Belize, and Nicaragua develop action plans designed to bring about sustainable changes in the coastal zone of their countries.
