GSO Responds to COVID-19

As this issue of Aboard GSO went to press, the nation was well into month three of its struggle to contain the Coronavirus. The global pandemic has affected every aspect of daily life, and life and work at GSO is no exception. Extraordinary steps have been called for to help navigate extraordinary times.

From a rapid switch to learning online and working remotely, to curtailing laboratory operations and postponing outreach events, the School has adapted to the needs of its community, to URI policy, to CDC guidelines and to statewide measures enacted by Governor Raimondo.

In subsequent issues, Aboard GSO will publish stories of the School’s response to COVID-19. While the world shares this experience, each person’s experience of the pandemic is unique. Therefore, our focus will include individual experiences—how faculty, researchers, students and alumni have adapted to the new reality while continuing to pursue goals that were set before the world changed.
