The Robinson Lab at URI GSO

URI Biogeochemistry & Paleoceanography

Our research focuses on the grand chemical cycles of nitrogen and carbon in the marine environment. Nitrogen, as an essential nutrient with the potential to limit biological productivity in large regions of the oceans, is a key determinant of ocean and atmospheric biogeochemistry. In our group, we seek to recreate the distributions of various fixed nitrogen species and understand the role of feedbacks within the oceanic nitrogen, oxygen, and carbon cycles on human and geologic timescales. This includes high latitude, tropical open ocean, and temperate coastal systems.
