Dean Paula Bontempi testifies before House Committee on Climate Change

On Friday, March 12, Paula S. Bontempi, dean of the Graduate School of Oceanography at the University of Rhode Island, testified before the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Space, Science and Technology on the science of climate change. Dr. Bontempi testified along with scientists from Stanford University, Princeton University and The Breakthrough Institute to address the importance of the ocean in influencing the climate system, research gaps and additional investments needed in climate science. The purpose of the hearing was to discuss the importance of climate change research, as well as how climate change is already impacting the U.S. on regional and local scales.
