“What scientific, economic and cultural discoveries are yet to be made as we explore the ocean?”
Our future depends on understanding the ocean. Ocean exploration includes mapping ocean basin features; characterizing geological, physical, chemical and biological phenomena; characterizing ocean resources; and discovering and characterizing submerged cultural resources such as shipwrecks, aircraft and paleo-landscapes. Central to this work to better understand the ocean is continued technological innovation.
