OLLI Extras & Special Interest Groups

Our OLLI Extras & Special Interest Groups (SIGs) are a very popular benefit of membership in the OLLI at URI community. It’s a great way to socialize with people with similar interests outside of the normal OLLI class environment. OLLI members propose these groups and take care of arrangements. Most OLLI Extras & SIGs meet once a month although they may meet more or less often if members wish.

Registration is required! OLLI Extras do not meet regularly.  Each session requires registration. These are free and exclusively for OLLI members!

  • Bike Group - The Bike Group is paused until further notice.
  • Book Group - Meets monthly on the 3rd Friday of each month at 1:00pm @ OLLI. Click for meeting dates and book titles.
  • Bowling - Bowl with OLLI on Wednesday Afternoons!
  • Cosmic Questions - Cosmic Questions is currently paused.
  • Creativity and Play - Get creative and have fun with other OLLI members.
  • Cribbage - Meets Wednesdays at 2:00pm in lobby
  • Current Events Discussion Group - Interested in current events? Meets bi-weekly at OLLI on Thursdays at 11:00AM in the downstairs conference room.
  • Cyber Seniors – Fall 2026 - Bridging generations through technology. Resumes in the fall semester.
  • Game On! - Register online for this SIG that meets weekly on Tuesdays, from 1:00PM-3:00PM.
  • globe Great Decisions: Foreign Policy Discussion - Join other OLLI members for a series of world affair discussions based on the Great Decisions program of the Foreign Policy Association.
  • Hiking Group - Improve your health and make new friends while exploring South County and other areas of Rhode Island on trails maintained by the Audubon Society, RI Department of Enviornmental Management, the Nature Conservancy and local land trusts.   • Mah jongg - Play Mah jongg at OLLI!
  • Movie Group - Paused for the summer. Resumes in September.
  • OLLI Serves - This OLLI initiative is intended to “give back” to the URI community and other organizations. Local non-profit groups also are invited to share their mission and how OLLI members might be involved. 
  • Photo Friday! - Meets the first Friday of every month via Zoom. Click for more details.
  • Rhody Ramblers - Looking for a short outing with a snack to follow? RESUMES IN SEPTEMBER
  • URI Campus Recreation @ Mackal Field House - OLLI Member Benefit! Discount to URI Campus Rec - Mackal Field House
  • URI Theatre - Support our URI students and come to the Theatre. RESUMES IN FALL
  • Writers Group - Meets monthly on the first Friday at 1pm via Zoom.
