Working Title for Major Paper: “Hydrographic Survey Requirements to support Climate Change Policy” or “Hydrographic Survey and Port Policies”

Greg Gahlinger is studying both Marine Affairs and Geographic Information Systems-Remote Sensing at URI.  He is from San Diego, California and retired from the U.S. Navy in 2013 after serving on numerous ships and shore assignments.  He completed a B.A. in Political Science/Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Florida and later earned an M.A. in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island.  He has been very interested in the hydrographic surveying industry for years and has previously worked to coordinate surveying projects in the Persian Gulf and Mediterranean.  Following graduation from URI, he plans to  pursue further technical training in hydrography and hopes to work as a surveyor for a government agency or private industry.  In his free time he enjoys sailing, traveling, and trying to maintain skills in the use of celestial navigation methods.
