Abstract: Becoming a scientist and then leaving academia can feel weird. It’s easy to undersell the skills you’ve picked up along the way. This talk will be a sampler of creative career options open to scientists. Kate Furby is a documentary filmmaker and science writer who has spent the last few years launching a business. Learn more about making it post-academia, navigating different spheres and using the skills gained in a PhD environment in the outside world. From burrowing owls with National Geographic to video game diplomacy at the State Department, she’ll share her unconventional career path.
