Cumberland teacher ships out on research ‘Endeavor’

Bernadette Durkin, a 5th-grade science teacher at John J. McLaughlin Cumberland Hill School, joined seven other Rhode Island teachers for a three-day research expedition aboard the R/V Endeavor, a research vessel owned by the National Science Foundation and operated by the University of Rhode Island’s Graduate School of Oceanography. Teachers had the chance to engage in thought-provoking research and receive educational training about oceanography through GSO’s Rhode Island Teachers at Sea program.
