Rhode Island woods provide a great opportunity for recreation through fish and game habitat. White-tailed deer, wild turkey, ruffed grouse, woodcock, pheasant, and various small game species live throughout Rhode Island’s diverse landscape. Our fresh waters are home to Largemouth bass, Northern pike, and crappie, along with trout and salmon, which are stocked in waters throughout the state. The Department of Environmental Management issues hunting and fishing licenses for Rhode Island, which can be obtained through a hunter education course or the presentation of a previous RI license.
